Úna Kavanagh | HARRIETTE LAVERY
Úna Kavanagh has been a company member with ANU Productions for the last decade. She has collaborated on over a dozen multi-disciplinary pieces as a Visual artist; Performance Artist; Film artist and Live performer. Past works include The Monto Cycle 2010-2014; the 2016 Triptych; These Rooms London International Theatre Festival 2018; and The Anvil 2019 Manchester International Festival.
Úna holds a B.A. and M.A. from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, Ireland. She has worked extensively across art disciplines for over 30 years in her native Ireland, UK, America, France, and the Middle East.
As an artist her work includes sculpture, text, painting, drawing, performance, film, installation, animation, script writing, music composition, Performance Art, and Live Art durational performances. Her practice ranges from extensive work in theatre, film, television, and radio to her artistic collaborations. Úna has exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions. Her work is held in private collections both here and the Middle East. She was awarded The Arts Council Agility Award for Visual Arts in 2021 and represented Ireland in ‘Art by Country’ in Abu Dhabi 2014 and 2019.
Most recently she has played the role of Ishtar in Gilgamesh (2021) written by Marina Carr and directed by Noeline Kavanagh. Her short film Constance (Screen Ireland and Bow Street Academy commission) will have its world premiere at the Cork International Film Festival in November 2021. She has been chosen as a 2021 AXIS Assemble Artist to develop her new theatre work Sacred Window and is the recipient of an Arts Council Theatre Bursary Award 2021.
